Bear Basin Nordic Center News for 2024:
The Payette Lakes Ski Club (PLSC) is applying for a 2024 Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation Trails Program Grant.
Our application will be requesting funds to support the purchase of a new groomer for the winter trails at Bear Basin Nordic Center. The Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation is responsible for administrating the RTP (Recreational Trails Program) federal program. These grant funds support non-motorized recreation trails. The funding is from federal gas tax revenue which comes back to the state of Idaho.
If awarded, the grant funds will go toward the purchase of a new Nordic groomer for the trail system at Bear Basin Nordic Center. The current groomer was purchased with the help of a 2013 RTP grant. The PLSC is currently seeking to replace the 2012 Pisten Bully 100 with a newer model. In the last twelve years, there have been vast improvements in fuel efficiency and control of both blade and tiller functions. These improvements will enhance the quality and consistency of the ski trails and reduce the environmental impact of operations at Bear Basin.
