Dear Supporters,
You may be wondering why Payette Lakes Ski Club is not participating in Idaho Gives this year.  Here is an update of our current situation.
On or about March 14, 2024, Payette Lakes Ski Club was notified of an accounting error which led to the revocation of our tax-exempt status. As soon as we were made aware of the error, we immediately remedied the issue and sent all required documentation to the IRS. The IRS is in receipt of the required documentation and is processing our reinstatement application. The IRS has let us know that it could take up to 180 days to complete the reinstatement, which would be on or about September 30, 2024.
Although our current tax-exempt status has been revoked, the IRS informed us, upon reinstatement, all donations made during the revocation period will be tax deductible. In the highly unlikely event our reinstatement isn’t granted, donations during the revocation period will not be tax deductible. It is important to note that the revocation was NOT the result of any misuse or misappropriation of funds. Every dollar PLSC receives goes directly back into delivering on our mission. This has not and will not change.
We will continue to accept donations through our online donation platform PLSC Recovery Fund, in person, or via mail. Your continued financial support is especially important this year as we work to reach our $100,000 fundraising goal which will help us maintain operations through the summer and into next season.
Donors, please know that we are working hard with our accountant and the IRS on gaining reinstatement.  We are grateful  for the continued support of our donors and thank each one of you for your patience as we work through this process.
